Nigerian-British singer-songwriter and worship minister Joyce Ochelle, a respected voice within the UK Christian music scene, returns with a compelling new single titled “The Great I Am,” featuring Pastor Mrs. Meque Eunice Bako of RCCG Victory Assembly, Sheffield. Based in the UK with her family, Joyce has steadily grown into one of the most impactful voices in contemporary Christian worship.
Her musical journey began in church at an early age and has evolved into a life of faithful service, where she currently leads as Music Director in her local church choir. Known for her deep passion for God and powerful worship delivery, Joyce’s ministry has gained recognition across the UK, USA, and Nigeria.
Joyce Ochelle is a two-time nominee for Song of the Year on the UK Christian Charts and has received three nominations at the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards in the USA, including International Female Soloist of the Year. In Nigeria, she earned the Top Benue Gospel Artist of the Year award at the ISADA Awards, further affirming her growing international influence.
With four singles previously released—two of which reached No. 1 on the UK Christian Charts—Joyce now introduces her fifth single, “The Great I Am.” The song is a deeply spiritual offering, birthed out of obedience, prayer, and personal transformation. It was conceived during one of the most challenging seasons of her life, following a prophetic instruction to fast, pray, and wait on the Holy Spirit for divine inspiration. Though initially hesitant, Joyce obeyed, and in that place of total surrender, “The Great I Am” was revealed.
The song became a source of healing, peace, and strength for her, even as she faced further trials during its completion. Through God’s grace, the message stands as a bold declaration of His sovereignty, power, and unchanging nature.
Sharing her heart behind the release, Joyce says, “My prayer is that this song will bring comfort, renewed strength, and assurance to believers everywhere as they encounter God—the Great I Am.”
Joyce Ochelle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Benue State University, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK. She is the daughter of Pastor James and Pastor Mrs. Elizabeth Idoko and is happily married to Gabriel Ochelle, with whom she has two children.
